My teacher got our class a real life client: the Cumberland River Compact. The goal was to create a poster and a billboard design for their upcoming event: the Dragon Boat Races. After everyone had submitted their designs to the client, CRC then narrowed down their choices to three of their favourite designs. The design shown below was one of their top choices. I will update this when I find out whether or not they're going to use this as their final choice.
EDIT: My poster and billboard design did get chosen as the pieces the Cumberland Compact will be using as their billboard and poster for their event.
started off with a detailed sketch of what I was going for
I took the image into Illustrator and went over everything with the pen tool. I limited my color palette to just the primary colors. I included the logos and websites for the client.
I simplified the elements from the poster and created a billboard design with one of the hashtags we as a class had come up with.

The Billboard that the project was to go on was actually square instead of rectangular. The client asked for 3 variants of the square design, then chose their favorite.
